Short Bio / Message from the Candidate:
Summitt-Campbell would be bringing a combination of 19 years of governmental experience to the table. She has spent the last 3 years on the Putnam County Council, and currently serves as Council President. Ms. Summitt-Campbell also sits on the West Central Solid Waste Board, as well as being the Board of Health representative for the Council. Additionally, she served a total of 16 years in the Putnam County Auditor’s office, with the first 8 years holding the following positions: plat, tax, payroll, and claims deputy. The last 8 years of her time with the Auditor’s office Summitt-Campbell served as the elected Putnam County Auditor.
“I have enjoyed serving on the County Council these past three years. During that time, as well as in my 16 years with the Putnam County Auditor’s Office, I gained valuable knowledge and experience with the funding of all county offices, and this knowledge will continue to benefit the County in the coming years.” Summitt-Campbell stated.
Summitt-Campbell stated, “Connecting with the Putnam County residents has always been one of the most valued parts of my serving.” “Over the last several years the County Council and County Commissioners have worked as a team to improve the county. Together, we have been able to secure funding to assist with Recovery Raw, as well as set up a salary study to help increase and retain our great county employees. The two boards are also working together to locate sources of additional funding to fix the roads, bridges, annex, and future jail maintenance and expansion. We have accomplished a lot in the last 3 years but realize we have more to do and I want to be a part of the continued change in improving our community.”
A lifelong resident of Putnam County, Summitt-Campbell is a 1996 graduate of South Putnam High School with a degree in computer science from Ivy Tech. She and her husband Glen, have four children. Her parents are Michael and Jeanette Summitt, who still reside in Washington Township.
