Short Bio / Message from the Candidate:

My name is Kelli Harding and I am the Republican candidate for County Council, District 1. Aside from my time in college, I have lived my entire life here in Perry County. I currently reside in Tell City with my husband and our two children.

I have had an interest in local government for many years, regularly attending most public meetings in an effort to inform myself of the manner my tax dollars were managed. During this time, I have seen a number of elected leaders come and go. Despite this, I have realized that many issues we face today are the same issues that we faced 10 years ago with little to no improvement. Handcuffed by debt and inefficient spending, we continue to struggle to fund resolutions to these issues. The rainy day fund for the entire county is less than $30,000, which doesn't position us well in the event of a public emergency. Positive growth in our county has become stagnant while surrounding areas continue to flourish. Yet year after year, I have seen little change in our leader's approach to address these issues. As a parent, I am concerned about our future and the legacy that we will leave the next generation. Our children are counting on us to create an environment that offers opportunity so they can stay in Perry County to raise their own family. The decisions we make today affect the condition of the Perry County we leave for them. We need leaders that are willing to ask tough questions and can step "outside of the box" to find solutions to the issues we face as a community. You deserve leaders that are transparent and accountable. With your support, you have my personal commitment that I will lead with your interests as the top priority as opposed to special interest groups. What you see is what you get with me. I believe what is right and fair should receive no bearing from political affiliation, age group, social group, etc. I will represent all in my district without prejudice.

This election, you will have a choice to make. Regardless of political party, the options you have include a continuation of what we have had for the last several years, or, taking a chance on me to try a different approach.
